Pastor Jeff Jones

Senior Pastor

I’m delighted to be the pastor of Mill Creek Parish. I’ve been a United Methodist Pastor

for 48 years and retired in 2021. I couldn’t quit, so Pastor Joan Carter-Rimbach brought

me to Mill Creek as the Assistant Pastor. When she retired, the Bishop gave me the job.

My parents were missionaries in the Congo when I was a child. I graduated from

Montgomery County schools, went to college in Westminster MD at what is now

McDaniel College, and went to seminary in Atlanta GA at Emory University. My Doctor

of Ministry studies were at Fuller Seminary in Pasadena CA. My studies were in Baby

Boomer ministries.

Elaine and I have been married for 25 years and live only 8 miles from Mill Creek

Parish. My hobbies include photography, visiting Civil War Battlefields, the Smithsonian

museums, and watching March Madness basketball.

We have two sons, one in California and one in Montgomery Village and our Grandson

just turned 16.

I like emphasizing connecting people to God, connecting people to one another, and to

connect to great causes. I’ve found the compass to be a great reminder of our spiritual

journey where we Nourish our souls, Embrace our Neighbors, Share and Serve what

God has given us and Witness to our love by helping others.

I’ve served churches that many of the former Mill Creek Parish pastors have also

served. I followed Kay Barger to Good Shepherd in Hampden, where I met Pastor Joan.

I served at the next door church to Bob Manthey in Timonium-Cockeysville area. I

followed Dan Stone and Lyle Harper to Ashton UMC. I followed Deb Scott at North

Bethesda UMC. I worked with Tim Warner on a County Board of Education committee

for Tutoring programs. Rick Andrews and I are both children of District Superintendents

and have known each other for a verry long time. I’ve known about and admired Mill

Creek Parish and I’m really happy to be here.

Come and join the journey with God as our companion, and Jesus as our role model.

The Holy Spirit equips us to grow in faith and hope and love.
